Romulus Augustulus
He was a boy often called the last western emperor.
Years. About AD 460 to sometime after 476
We are not sure. We do not know when he was born exactly, or what his later life was like. The pension tale may be true. It is not certain.
Three short facts
- 1His father really held the power.
- 2A general named Odoacer set him aside in AD 476.
- 3The eastern empire kept going.
The story
Romulus was very young.
His nickname Augustulus means little Augustus.
In 476 Odoacer took Ravenna and sent the boy away.
Many histories mark that year as the end of the western emperors.
