The Republic
Cleopatra
She was the last great queen of Egypt.
Years. 69 BC to 30 BC
Not from the city of Rome
We are not sure. We are not sure of the exact way she died in 30 BC. The snake story is possible, not proven.
Three short facts
- 1She ruled Egypt and spoke Egyptian as well as Greek.
- 2She allied with Caesar, then with Mark Antony.
- 3She died after losing the war to Octavian.
The story
Cleopatra was smart, educated, and determined to keep her kingdom.
Rome’s generals had the armies.
She made alliances with them.
